New media have always been met by a fair bit of scepticism. When the first newspapers started finding a fond readership in the fine salons of the big European cities, some 250 years ago, talk emerged of newspaper addiction. Robinson’s generation had to constantly reassure parents that they weren’t at all watching TV for an excessive amount of time. But now, in 2007, TV is no longer seen as the main reason for social decay. It’s the Internet.

Among a lot of other interesting changes to his computer configuration, Robinson has lately given up his long-time favourite non-Microsoft email client Eudora in favour of Google Mail (Gmail). This change came after he started getting to know Microsoft Office Outlook at work and found that this program has some really handy features Eudora just hasn’t – most notably the calendar. (mehr…)

Robinson must admit: He really liked Gladiator and A Beautiful Mind. But Marx’ story makes you think: Is it worth seeing the Bra Boys? Or are all the plugs in the media just bought by money, invitations, favours, promises of friendship?

How many journalists have chosen their job just to associate themselves with those who are up there in the sphere of glamour, fame, money and power? What percentage of media is a result of genuine independent research and reflects true opinions rather than sycophantic favours? Make sure you read Marx’ story.

Obschon diese Meldung in Australien nur ein einziges Mal durch den Äther ging, findet Robinson die Geschichte so unglaublich amüsant, dass das Thema hier ganz an den Anfang gehört. Schweizer Christen fordern den Rückzug des Schweizer Beitrags zum Eurovision-Songcontest.

Oster-Stöckchen

It was a hard call when we made this video: Which language should we speak in. English, so the largest possible number of people would understand us? German, so Pipollina’s German-speaking blogger friend would understand us? Or Swiss German, so we would feel most comfortable bubbling out everything that came to mind? We decided on the latter. Die australischen Medien haben erwähnt, dass Zürich die lebenswerteste Stadt der Welt sein soll. Das wurde eher ungläubig kommentiert. Diejenigen, die Zürich aus eigener Anschauung kennen, sagten, die hätten sich schier zu Tode gelangweilt dort. Einige wollen in einem Park ganz unschweizerische Tätigkeiten wie Zigarettenstummeleinfachachtlosaufdenparkbodenschmeissen beobachtet haben. Aber die Schweiz ganz allgemein wird wohl schon was für sich haben. Immerhin hat Pipollina hoch offiziell beschlossen, dereinst wieder dort leben zu wollen.
